Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Sequel Enters Development With 505 Games
505 Games and Digital Bros are officially moving forward with a sequel to Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, confirming that the Chinese soulslike will continue under the direction of its original creator.
Digital Bros has signed a new development and publishing agreement with Chengdu Recursive Dolphin Technology, better known as Indolphinity. The studio was founded by Xia Siyuan, the former creative director and project leader of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
Under the agreement, Indolphinity will lead creative development on the sequel, while Digital Bros, through 505 Games, will fund the project and serve as its exclusive worldwide publisher. The initial investment is approximately €21.5 million.
Digital Bros Now Fully Owns Wuchang
The sequel follows Digital Bros’ earlier acquisition of the Wuchang: Fallen Feathers intellectual property from Chinese developer Leenzee. That deal, announced in April, gave Digital Bros full ownership of the IP for RMB 32 million, or roughly €4 million.
At the time, the company said owning Wuchang would allow it to make faster decisions about the franchise’s future development and related investments. Rather than leaving Wuchang as a one-off soulslike, 505 Games is treating it as a franchise with long-term global potential.
A Strong Commercial Base Despite a Rocky Launch
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers did not have the smoothest start. The game launched in July 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, with day-one availability through Xbox Game Pass. It drew attention for its late Ming Dynasty setting, striking visual direction, and fast action RPG combat, but also faced criticism around technical issues and parts of its launch experience.

Even so, the commercial performance gave 505 Games plenty of reason to stay invested. Digital Bros said the game reached the top of Steam’s Global Top Sellers chart before launch, attracted more than 130,000 concurrent Steam players on launch day, sold over 1 million units by March 31, and generated more than €30 million in revenue.
More recently, 505 Games said Wuchang: Fallen Feathers has reached 5 million players worldwide across PC and consoles. That player figure should not be confused with copies sold, especially with Game Pass included, but it still shows the game found a sizeable audience.
Xia Siyuan’s Return Matters
The biggest reassurance for fans is Xia Siyuan’s involvement. Rather than moving the sequel to a completely unrelated team, 505 Games is keeping the next Wuchang project tied to the creative lead behind the original. That matters for a series built heavily around Chinese history, mythology, atmosphere, and identity.
Indolphinity is still a new studio, so questions remain around its team size, production structure, and how many former Leenzee developers may be involved. However, Digital Bros says future development will remain rooted in China, with a new Digital Bros subsidiary in Chengdu also being established to support development and publishing activity.
No Release Window Yet
The Wuchang: Fallen Feathers sequel is still in its preparation phase, so no platforms, gameplay details, title, or release window have been announced. That means players should not expect it soon. The important news is that the franchise has survived a complicated post-launch period and now has formal publisher backing, funding, and its original creator involved again.
For 505 Games, this is a clear bet on Wuchang: Fallen Feathers as more than a single successful soulslike. For fans, it means Bai Wuchang’s world is not finished yet.
