Sparrow Night Confirms New Release Date for News Tower
The presses at Sparrow Night and Twin Sails Interactive will start rolling a little later than expected. The full 1.0 release of News Tower, the 1930s newsroom tycoon sim, has been pushed from November 4 to November 18, giving the indie title space to shine in a crowded release window.
The developers stressed that this is not a delay due to unfinished work — the game’s launch build is already complete and stable. Instead, the extra time is about timing and visibility.
“Timing matters in both newspapers and video games,” Sparrow Night said in a statement. “By giving News Tower its own clear headline moment, we’re ensuring our players and community can experience the excitement of building their media empire without distraction.”
Setting the Right Rhythm
To accompany the new launch window, Twin Sails released a “Behind the Music” featurette spotlighting the game’s 1930s-inspired jazz soundtrack.
Composed by Bart van de Sande and performed by members of New Cool Collective, the score channels the big-band energy of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, layering improvisation and tension to mirror the daily hustle of a newsroom. The music, recorded live, gives News Tower a distinct period feel that complements its blend of satire and simulation.
A Bigger, Deeper Newsroom
When News Tower officially launches, players can expect its most feature-packed version yet. The update extends the campaign timeline into the late 1930s, adding four new years of headlines, rival newspaper battles, and moral dilemmas. A new Military faction, revamped reputation systems, and expanded localisation support promise greater strategic depth and replayability.
Other additions include new districts, tower layouts, decorative options, and achievements with global leaderboards, all designed to keep the challenge fresh for would-be publishing moguls.
A Rising Indie Success Story
Developed by a five-person team in Rotterdam, Sparrow Night’s debut has already made waves. News Tower was named “2024’s most fascinating management simulation” by The New York Times and swept four major categories at the Dutch Game Awards, including Best Game and Best Audio.

With a newly announced price adjustment from US$19.99 to US$24.99 to reflect its expanded scope, News Tower looks poised to cement its place among modern management-sim favourites when it hits Steam on this November.
