Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin Heads to Gamescom 2026

Mansion Games is bringing Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin to Gamescom 2026, giving attendees the chance to get hands-on with the retro-inspired action game ahead of its planned release later this year.

The game will appear in both the B2B and B2C areas of the show, with playable builds available from August 26 to August 28 in Business Hall 4.1, Stand C050-B041, and from August 26 to August 30 in Indie Hall 10.2, Stand F040-E057.

Set in Berlin during the final days of World War II, Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin follows a dangerous mission to hunt down the remaining leaders of the fallen regime, seize experimental technology and recover stolen art and relics.

Run and Gun Action Meets Platforming and Tactical Missions

The game mixes run-and-gun action with platforming and adventure elements, with Mansion Games also promising tactical challenges and a deliberately cheeky sense of humour. Players will work through nine missions across different parts of Berlin, with each stage offering different enemies, settings and possible approaches.

Replayability is a key part of the design, with the developer aiming to give players multiple ways to tackle individual missions rather than simply following a fixed route from start to finish.

Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin Gameplay

Visually, Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin blends pixel art, 2D illustrations, 3D graphics and traditionally animated sequences. The main cover artwork was created by Spanish illustrator Alfonso Azpiri, while composer Chris Huelsbeck provides the soundtrack. Huelsbeck is best known for his work on games including Turrican, R-Type and Star Wars: Rogue Squadron.

Physical Editions Are Planned for Switch and PS5

The digital release is being handled by Jandusoft, while Tesura Games will publish physical editions for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. Both Standard and Collector’s Editions are planned, with the Collector’s Edition including additional physical items built around the game’s retro presentation.

For Gamescom attendees curious about a more old-school take on wartime action, the show will provide the first major opportunity to see how its mix of run and gun combat, tactical missions and handcrafted visuals comes together.

Mansion Games has not announced a specific launch date yet, but Operation Highjump: The Fall of Berlin is still scheduled to arrive this year.
