Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Reveals More of Sophia’s Story

Focus Entertainment and Asobo Studio have released a new story trailer for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, offering a closer look at Sophia’s past and the dangers waiting beneath Minotaur Island.

Set before Sophia’s appearance in A Plague Tale: Requiem, the upcoming action-adventure follows a younger version of the character after a planned heist with her late father’s bandit gang goes badly wrong. Forced to flee Venice, Sophia travels with her companion Leni as the pair become drawn into the mysteries surrounding Minotaur Island.

The new trailer places much of its focus on that journey, with ancient ruins, hostile forces and the threat of something stalking Sophia from the shadows forming part of the game’s darker atmosphere.

Minotaur Island Holds Answers About the Macula

While Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy introduces a new protagonist and setting, it remains closely tied to the wider mythology established across the A Plague Tale series. Sophia’s search will eventually lead into the ruins of a forgotten civilisation, where players will uncover more about the origins of the Macula and the truth behind the legends surrounding Minotaur Island.

Unlike Amicia, Sophia appears to be much more comfortable in direct combat. Her arsenal includes chain sword attacks, dagger strikes, parries and kicks, giving players more options when dealing with enemies instead of relying entirely on stealth and evasion.

That does not mean the game is abandoning the tension associated with the series, however. Darkness remains a major threat, with players needing to stay close to light sources while exploring certain areas and use the environment to avoid whatever is hunting them.

Asobo Studio Is Showing More Ahead of Launch

Ahead of release, Focus Entertainment has also been sharing a series of shorter videos covering individual parts of the experience, including its environments, enemy encounters, Sophia’s backstory and combat mechanics.

These clips have offered a broader look at locations ranging from the streets of Venice to the darker reaches of Minotaur Island, while also showing how Sophia’s more physical fighting style will differ from previous entries.

Players will have another chance to see the game before launch at gamescom, where Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy will be playable at both the Focus Entertainment and Xbox booths.
