ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs Sales Pass 300,000 Copies in One Week

tinyBuild and Mandragora have announced that ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs has sold more than 300,000 copies in its first week on sale. The Y2K-inspired electronics repair simulator has also reached a peak of more than 19,000 concurrent players on Steam, while its user reviews currently sit at Overwhelmingly Positive.

The early response is already encouraging the team to look beyond launch, with Mandragora working on additional story content and more retro devices for players to repair in future updates.

ReStory Turns Electronics Repair Into a Cosy Management Sim

Set in mid-2000s Tokyo, ReStory puts players behind the counter of a small electronics repair shop where old gadgets are taken apart, cleaned, and brought back to life.

The list of devices includes handheld systems, mobile phones, cameras, music players and household appliances, with some hardware inspired by familiar retro technology. Officially licensed Atari systems also appear among the items players can work on.

The appeal is not limited to the repair work itself. ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs also places a strong emphasis on the people bringing those devices through the door, with individual customers tied to branching storylines. Depending on how players respond, they can become involved in everything from helping a student confess his feelings to uncovering secrets stored on a former gangster’s phone.

More Story Content and Devices Are Already Planned

With the game now past 300,000 copies sold, Mandragora says it is already developing new content. That will include additional narrative material as well as more retro electronics to dismantle and repair, although no release dates have been provided for those updates yet.

The strong Steam reception also suggests the game has found a sizeable audience for its particular mix of hands-on repair work and low-pressure storytelling. Its nostalgic setting is clearly part of that appeal, but the more interesting hook may be how the game uses each repair job as an excuse to introduce another character and story rather than treating the shop purely as a management system.

Available Now on Steam

For players drawn to cosy management games, retro technology or the satisfaction of restoring broken electronics piece by piece, ReStory appears to have made a strong first impression.

With more story content and devices already on the way, its first week may only be the start of a longer stay behind the repair counter.

ReStory: Chill Electronics Repairs is now available on PC via Steam, where it is discounted by 10% until August 20.
