Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Confirmed for PlayStation 5 Release

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II will land on PlayStation 5 this summer.

The writing’s been on the wall for a while, and Microsoft’s aim of getting its games to as many platforms as possible has become more well realised in recent months. Following the steps of Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones: The Great Circle, and the recently confirmed Gears of War: Reloaded, it’s now the turn of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II to make its way to Sony’s ecosystem.

In a brief confirmation video, developer Ninja Theory revealed that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will indeed be coming to both the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Pro this summer, although a specific release date has yet to be announced.

The sequel to the award-winning Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, we once again return as Senua in a brutal journey of survival through the myth and torment of Viking Iceland. Her only goal is to save those who have fallen victim to the horrors of tyranny, and that means an intense battle of overcoming darkness both within and without. This is not going to be your typical action adventure.

What makes this upcoming release even more interesting is the “Enhanced” label accompanying the PlayStation 5 version. According to Ninja Theory, this edition of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will include new additional features for the PlayStation 5 version at launch. However, fans on other platforms need not worry, these features will also be made available as a free update for Xbox Series X|S and PC users.

However, the developer has remained tight-lipped about what these new features will entail. They’ve only stated that more information will be shared in the near future, as the studio is currently focused on optimising the game across platforms.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II is poised to be another major step in Microsoft’s evolving multi-platform approach, marking yet another noteworthy moment in the shifting dynamics of the modern gaming industry.
