Street Fighter 6 Arjun Arrives on October 13
Capcom is taking an unusual approach to Year 4 of Street Fighter 6, with two completely new fighters joining a season that also includes Tifa from Final Fantasy VII and World Tour character Bosch. Yasmine from the Philippines made her debut in August, and the next newcomer is now ready to step into the ring.
Arjun launches on October 13, and while his enormous frame initially suggested another traditional grappler, his newly revealed gameplay paints a considerably more complicated picture. He is slow and immensely powerful, but the core of his strategy revolves around recoverable damage, better known to fighting game players as grey life.
Hurting Opponents Even When They Block
Arjun’s unique Bare Knuckle Yoga techniques use his extraordinary lung capacity and controlled breathing to generate power. Many of his special moves deal recoverable damage even when successfully blocked, gradually turning portions of an opponent’s health bar grey. That health can recover over time, but taking a clean hit removes it immediately.
It means simply defending against the new addition is not necessarily enough. Arm of Justice provides a powerful advancing punch, while Cruel Shoulder lets him force his way forwards. Breathing Ring creates a ring of air that can then be launched as a projectile at different angles.
His stranger tools include Divine Pillar, which blows air into the ground to create an earth spire. Arjun can delay its activation to pressure opponents getting back to their feet, or charge into an active pillar with Cruel Shoulder to trigger Justice Beyond, ripping it from the ground and swinging it towards his opponent.
A Command Grab Makes All That Grey Life Dangerous
There is still some grappling in the fighter’s toolkit. Ghastly Interrogation is a command throw that normally inflicts recoverable damage. Against an opponent already carrying grey life, however, it converts into normal damage instead.
His Indomitable Defence gives him another way to force mistakes. Arjun uses his breathing techniques to hyper-oxygenate his muscles, entering a stance that can counter incoming strikes while still dealing recoverable damage.
Together, those tools make him less of a straightforward grappler and more of a slow pressure fighter who gradually makes blocking increasingly uncomfortable.
Yaksha’s Order Gets Appropriately Theatrical
Arjun’s backstory is similarly dramatic. A former police officer in India, he was framed for murdering his trusted partner and is now on the run while searching for the person actually responsible.
That personality carries into his Level 3 Super Art, Yaksha’s Order. Arjun disrupts his opponent’s inner ear, leaving them hallucinating before multiple visions of him appear during an intentionally over-the-top sequence leading into the final blow.
The dance-heavy presentation gives the attack a distinctly cinematic Indian flavour, although Capcom itself describes Arjun’s broader presentation as a “cinematic mantra” rather than explicitly labelling the move as Bollywood-inspired.
Arjun will be available individually through Fighter Coins or automatically for owners of the Year 4 Character Pass and Year 4 Ultimate Pass when he arrives on October 13. Tifa follows in early 2027, with Bosch closing out Year 4 in spring 2027.
