The Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay Trailer Details Its Core Systems
With less than a month to go before launch, Rebel Wolves and Bandai Namco Entertainment have released a new gameplay trailer for The Blood of Dawnwalker, offering a broader look at the systems shaping its dark fantasy adventure.
Set in Vale Sangora, the game follows Coen, a Dawnwalker who lives as a human during the day and a vampire at night. That dual nature is more than a narrative detail, with different abilities, opportunities and approaches opening up depending on the time of day.
The trailer also introduces the Vrakhiris, the vampire faction ruling the region, before shifting focus to Coen and the choices players will face as they work toward confronting vampire lord Brencis.
Time Is a Key Resource
One of the more unusual systems in The Blood of Dawnwalker is its approach to time. Coen has 30 days and 30 nights to save his family, but the clock does not move forward simply because players are exploring Vale Sangora. Instead, time advances when certain quests are started or progressed, with individual activities consuming specific time segments.
That means players will not be able to see and do everything in a single playthrough. Choosing which quests to pursue, which characters to help and which opportunities to ignore will influence how the story develops and what options remain available later.
The result is a structure where exploration can remain relatively relaxed, while major decisions still carry a clear cost.
Combat Can Be Accessible or More Precise
Combat is another major focus of the new trailer, with Rebel Wolves showing how players can adjust the experience depending on how involved they want to be. The adaptive omniattack and omniblock systems allow Coen to attack and defend with simplified inputs, while still giving players control over the rhythm of a fight.
Those looking for something more demanding can instead use the directional combat system, which rewards better timing and positioning through precisely executed parries and ripostes.
Coen’s human and vampire abilities also affect how encounters can be approached, reinforcing the idea that his dual identity should influence both exploration and combat.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Launches September 3
Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game marks the debut release from Rebel Wolves and places a heavy emphasis on player choice, open-ended progression and the consequences of how Coen spends his limited time.
With the 30-day structure, day and night abilities and flexible combat systems all working together, the bigger question now is how well those ideas hold up across a full playthrough once Vale Sangora opens its doors next month.
The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on September 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.
