The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Closed Beta Goes Live for Supporters
Owlcat Games has launched the closed beta for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, giving early access to supporters on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Access is tied to founder purchases, with the beta available to players who bought either the Collector’s Edition or Miller’s Pack.
The beta will be a first hands-on look at key pillars of the project, including third-person combat, zero-g movement, and the tone of life on a remote space station. Owlcat has also shared a short video preview focused on Pinkwater Station, a taste of what founders can expect inside this slice of the game
A Story-Driven Action RPG Built Around Companions and Choice
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a story-driven action RPG set in The Expanse universe, with an emphasis on companions, player choice, and dynamic combat. Players take on the role of a Pinkwater Security mercenary who survives a catastrophic incident on Eros and is then pulled into a larger struggle against Protogen and its experiments.
While it borrows its setting from the books and TV series, Owlcat stresses that the game tells its own story with original characters. The beta will introduce that tone, letting players meet some companions early while exploring the practical realities of living and working in a mercenary-heavy station environment.
What the Closed Beta Includes, and What It Does Not
In this beta build, founders can choose between two starting protagonists: a female character from the Belt or a male character from Earth. Players also pick a specialisation path between officer and hacker abilities. The beta party structure includes the protagonist’s sibling J, plus support from a veteran mechanic named Zafar.
The playable content centres on Pinkwater Station, described as a remote space station belonging to Pinkwater Security, set in the aftermath of escaping Eros. Players can interact with station inhabitants, test dialogue options, and get a sense of how everyday station life functions before the story escalates. Once the antagonists catch up, the beta shifts into combat encounters and introduces upgrade mechanics.
Owlcat also notes that The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will expand character background options to include Mars alongside Earth and the Belt, with broader customisation and more specialisations than what is available in this beta slice.
Beta Timeline and Spring 2027 Release Window

The closed beta is available now and is expected to run until the game’s full launch in spring 2027. Owlcat says performance may vary because the beta is a work in progress, and it plans to incorporate player feedback into the final release.
The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is set to launch in spring 2027 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
