TOEM 2 Release Date Set for September 29

Something We Made and co-publisher popagenda have confirmed that TOEM 2 will launch on September 29 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

The sequel arrives almost five years after TOEM: A Photo Adventure, once again sending players out with a camera in hand to explore strange locations, meet unusual characters and document mysterious events known as TOEMs.

A new release date trailer has accompanied the announcement, giving another look at the cosy black-and-white world and some of the new ways players will be able to interact with it.

TOEM 2 Expands the Original Photo Adventure

Like the first game, TOEM 2 is built around exploration at a relaxed pace. Players will be able to run, jump and climb through new environments, searching for hidden routes, scenic spots and smaller details tucked away throughout each area.

Photography remains central to the experience, but the camera has received some new tricks. New attachments can be used to solve puzzles and approach environmental problems in different ways, alongside the familiar ability to photograph discoveries and complete quests.

The sequel also introduces a new cast of characters and creatures to meet along the journey. Helping them out will contribute towards a growing journal, with stamps awarded for completing tasks, finding secrets and expanding the critter compendium. Those stamps also serve a practical purpose, acting as the means to unlock access to new regions as players continue their journey.

A Cosy Game Designed Around Taking Your Time

Something We Made is once again leaning heavily into the series’ laid-back identity. There are no time limits pushing players through TOEM 2, while full completion is not required to keep progressing. Players can instead wander at their own pace, stop to listen to music, explore side paths or simply spend time taking pictures of whatever catches their attention.

The developer is also aiming to make the sequel accessible to newcomers, meaning prior knowledge of TOEM: A Photo Adventure should not be necessary to enjoy the new journey.

For anyone curious about where the series began, the original TOEM is currently discounted by 90% on Steam and PlayStation 5 as part of the release date celebrations.

TOEM 2 Arrives This September

With new areas to explore, upgraded camera mechanics and another collection of eccentric characters to meet, the sequel looks set to build on the same quiet sense of discovery that made the original stand out.

For players who prefer their adventures without timers, combat pressure or an endless checklist demanding attention, another photography trip could be worth packing the camera for.

TOEM 2 launches on September 29 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.
