Vanquish Evil in Demonic Roguelite Deckbuilder Malys

Malys

A good adventure centred around revenge always makes for a fun time, and if you want a more supernatural slant on things, we have just the thing for you. Summerfall Studios, developers of Stray Gods, have announced a new demonic roguelite deckbuilder called Malys.

Players will take up the role of Noah, a former priest turned exorcist and demon hunter, and bring hope to the hopeless and free the possessed. Expect a tale of twists and turns written by David Gaider, the studio founder who was also a lead writer with BioWare and worked on the Dragon Age games.

The game’s developers have stated they intend to create an innovative and immersive story while retaining a focus on strategy. As players go through Malys, they will gain experience and choose which upgrade paths to take to improve their decks. Each card represents an arcane trick that can be combined with other cards to create devastating spells that shred any demon in their way.

This will be vital if players want to hunt down the titular demon called Malys, a creature of extraordinary cunning and power. Only by using unique combinations and strategies can you withstand the horror.

A Kickstarter campaign will be launched soon to help fund the game and keep up with fan feedback. The development team stated they want to work with their audience to get the game out in roughly six months, unlike the stereotypical Kickstarter, which takes years to deliver on its goals.

Malys is a unique take on a familiar genre, pushing the boundaries of roguelite storytelling and delivering a satisfyingly moody experience. This Kickstarter allows us to work closely with you – the players – to ensure Malys is the best game it can be, and get it into your hands this year,” reads the official description.

No release date has been given for Malys, but if the developers’ plan goes according to plan, it should be out towards the end of this year.
