Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV Game Overview Goes Big on Content
Deep Silver and KING Art Games released a nine-minute overview for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV, laying out how much war awaits when the real-time strategy sequel launches in December.
The new Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV Game Overview covers its four campaigns, more than 70 missions, Skirmish, 30 multiplayer maps and the return of The Last Stand. It follows KING Art Games pushing the launch back to December 3, giving the studio more time to optimise and polish ahead of release.
Four Campaigns Bring More Than 70 Missions to Kronus
Space Marines, Orks, Necrons and the Adeptus Mechanicus each receive their own complete campaign, collectively offering more than 70 missions with branching paths and co-operative support.
Each faction brings different mechanics and battlefield priorities, as we saw in Dawn of War IV‘s multiplayer Battlefield Reports. The Adeptus Mechanicus builds around their Noosphere Network, the Necrons steadily expand a Power Matrix, and the Orks lean into overwhelming numbers.
Outside the campaign, Skirmish supports four game types and up to five AI opponents, with players able to customise the conditions before heading into battle.
Multiplayer Launches With 30 Maps
Competitive multiplayer in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV will launch with 30 maps and three game types, plus extensive options for tailoring matches. Army customisation is getting considerably more attention too. The upgraded Painter tool lets players adjust colours, decals and wargear individually, rather than simply selecting broad preset schemes for their armies.
It should give players much more freedom to recreate familiar Chapters and Forge Worlds, or put together something entirely their own, before sending it into battle.
The Last Stand Returns With Strikeforces
Fan-favourite co-operative survival mode The Last Stand is also returning. Three players team up against increasingly dangerous enemy waves, choose from five heroes, and assemble a Strikeforce of companion units. Adding those supporting units should add another strategic layer compared with relying solely on each hero’s individual build.

The fighting will continue after launch too. Year One updates will bring back Crusade Mode, along with additional maps, modes, Commanders, and a Mission Editor. Two major story expansions are also planned, with one new playable faction joining the war for Kronus.
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV launches on PC via Steam on December 3. Commander Edition owners can start on November 30 with a three-day early unlock, while both editions currently offer a 10% pre-order discount.
