Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition Remaster Revealed, Skips PS5

The first Space Marine will be re-released as a remaster but unfortunately, it will be skipping the PlayStation 5.

The Warhammer 40,000 universe is known for its rich and expansive sci-fi lore, and interest in the franchise has surged significantly following the phenomenal success of Space Marine 2. The cooperative shooter captivated fans not only with its engaging gameplay but also with its compelling narrative. Riding the wave of this momentum, SEGA and Sneakybox have seized the opportunity to revive the original game with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition.

As expected from a remaster, this re-release promises significant visual improvements. Players can enjoy the game in 4K resolution, with enhanced textures, reworked character models, and a more modern, user-friendly interface. These upgrades aim to deliver a more immersive and visually polished experience while preserving the brutal and epic nature of the original game.

“Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition isn’t just a technical upgrade – it’s a thoughtful restoration,” said Producer Vaidas Mikelskas from SneakyBox. “We aimed to preserve the spirit of the original while modernising the experience for today’s players. This is more than just Master Crafted Edition, it’s a respectful dialogue between past and present, preserving what made the original special while making it shine for a new generation of players.”

The Master Crafted Edition will also include all previously released DLC for the original Space Marine, ranging from multiplayer map packs to various armour sets. SEGA accompanied the announcement with a reveal trailer that highlights the substantial visual improvements fans can look forward to.

However, there’s a notable caveat. While the game will be re-released on current platforms, it will not be coming to the PlayStation 5. Curiously, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition is set to be exclusive to Microsoft’s ecosystem on consoles, launching on Xbox Series X|S and becoming available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. For PC players, the remaster will be accessible via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

SEGA has yet to offer any detailed explanation regarding the absence of a PS5 release. The game is scheduled to launch on June 10, and while the omission of PlayStation 5 support may disappoint some fans, the remaster remains a promising revival of a cult-classic shooter.
