Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Release Date Set for March 2027
Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have confirmed that Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch worldwide on March 4, 2027, alongside a limited-time Alpha Demo that players can jump into now. The sequel is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox on PC, and Steam, and will also join Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Set after the events of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, the story moves forward to 208 AD as Cao Cao prepares his invasion of Jing Province. After the protagonist’s village is devastated by his forces, players join Liu Bei before eventually travelling to Jiangdong and becoming caught up in the events leading towards the Battle of Red Cliffs.
Wo Long 2 Expands Combat With Insight Skills and Open Fields
The fast, deflection-heavy combat of the original returns, but Team Ninja is introducing new options through Insight Skills. These abilities let players evade incoming attacks, use surrounding terrain to set up counterattacks, and regain momentum when overwhelmed. The new trailer also shows considerably more vertical movement, including airborne attacks that should give encounters a more acrobatic feel.
Battlefields themselves are opening up as well. Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will feature dynamic open fields based around major Three Kingdoms conflicts, including the Battle of Changban and the Battle of Red Cliffs.
Players can explore fortresses, valleys, and other larger environments while managing the returning Morale system. Players can also recruit enemy officers, weakening opposing armies and adding another strategic layer beyond simply defeating everything in sight.
Wo Long 2 Alpha Demo Runs Until September 30
Those who want to see how the changes feel in Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember can try them now. The free Alpha Demo is available until September 30 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam. Nintendo Switch 2 is not included in the test.
Players can explore the Changban open field, fight alongside Liu Bei’s forces against Cao Cao, and encounter demons inspired by Chinese legends. The demo also includes an in-development character creator and online multiplayer for up to three players.
Completing it unlocks the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet for use in the full game, while Team Ninja is also collecting player feedback through a post-demo survey.
Pre-Orders Are Now Open
Pre-orders have opened alongside the release date announcement. In addition to the standard edition, a Digital Deluxe Edition includes the base game, Season Pass, Creator God Armor Set, digital artbook, mini soundtrack and Shitieshou Hat. Physical editions are also available to pre-order.
