Leak Point to May Release for Doom: The Dark Ages

Doom the Dark Ages

Having captured the world by storm and making Doomguy such an icon again, it is no surprise that the next entry in the DOOM franchise is already creating plenty of anticipation. Both id Software and Bethesda know what a treasure they have on their hands, and based on what we have seen so far of Doom: The Dark Ages, we are inclined to agree. More importantly, it seems that we don’t have to wait too long to jump into medieval slaying.

With the Xbox Developer Direct set to hit in a few days, it is widely speculated that we will be getting more updates and possibly a release date for Doom: The Dark Ages. That would make sense, but it seems like the cat’s been let out of the bag.

A slip-up by Gamekult, as reported by Insider Gaming, has seen embargo broken ahead of the presentation, with Doom: The Dark Ages slated for a May 15 release later this year. With selected media given access to previews of the game ahead of the presentation, the information looks increasingly solid. The article in question being deleted also adds to the intrigue, although it could very well be a mistake, and we won’t be stepping into the weary boots of Doomguy that soon.

Aside from the first-person shooter, the Xbox Developer Direct will be covering South of Midnight and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as well, with in-depth showcases that will sure to keep fans yearning for more. There will also be a mysterious fourth game that will be shown, so that’s a potential surprise that will create even more headlines than a May release for Doom: The Dark Ages.

As far as we know, Doom: The Dark Ages is expected to launch on May 15 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
