While we may have gotten used to the plethora of heroes that save the day in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Disney is now preparing the runway for the spotlight to fall on those who operate in the grey area. The first trailer for Thunderbolts* has dropped ahead of its May 2025 release, giving fans a closer look at one of the teams leading the charge for Phase 5 of the MCU.
If you have stayed up to date with the various television shows and accompanying media for the MCU, then you know that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine has been hard at work pulling the strings to put together a team of questionable characters.
At the heart of it all seems to be Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova post-Black Widow, as well as Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes. Together with the Red Guardian (David Harbour), U.S Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Bob AKA Sentry (Lewis Pullman), the uneasy team dynamics and conflicts will definitely be essential components of the film.
How Thunderbolts* will fare following years of superhero antics remains to be seen, but it is hoped that the seemingly darker tone and alternative take on the MCU will provide the boost needed to bring fans back into the fold. While the May window is still a distance away, anticipation for the Jake Schreier-directed movie will surely build, and hopefully, this team will be yet another crowdpleaser when the movie eventually launches.
