Today, it was revealed that the ambitious sequel to the award-winning 2021 title from Hero Concept, Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds, is set to release sometime in 2026. The news came by way of the official Kickstarter page, which featured plenty of information on the upcoming title.

Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds is an arcade-style beat ’em up roguelite with hand-drawn animations taking visual inspiration from comic books. There are plans to include eight playable characters, up to 40 different enemy types, and will launch with four-player co-op, a highly requested feature absent from the first game.

The game’s main attraction, however, is the concept of time transition, which allows the player to swap between two characters in two different time periods at a whim. This mechanic, combined with the roguelite elements, ensures that each playthrough will be unique, as each setting has its own mysteries to uncover.

Set in an alternate history in which mythical concepts such as spellcasting, telekinesis, and shapeshifting have become commonplace, the storylines via differing time periods follow the four main characters on their journeys to rid their city of rampant crime.

Despite being announced today, Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds has already surpassed its initial goal of $14,832. There are currently 10 reward packages available to fans upon donating to the campaign, and each one comes with various rewards ranging from being named in the game’s credits, receiving artbooks, and even being turned into a background NPC.

The campaign also has stretch goals, going past the initial goal, and with each tier, the developers will add extra features such as a full English voiceover, more difficulty options, more side quests, and more.

Mayhem Brawler II: Best of Both Worlds is planned to be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch in 2026.
