Nostalgic Fps Nasty Zombies Releases New Perk, Weapons & More

If you are into first-person shooters that are more focused on the actual experience instead of the visual bells and whistles, then indie FPS Nasty Zombies will be right up your alley. Developed by Con No 1 and a throwback to the classic wave-based defence gameplay of earlier Call of Duty titles, the new Scavenge and Camo Update that has just dropped makes it even better.

As the title implies, it is a significant content update focusing on adding a new perk, Scavenger, and a new camo feature that acts as an additional progression system for weapons in the game.

Scavenger is a derivative of the Call of Duty multiplayer perk of the same name, with zombies having a chance to drop extra ammunition when killed. The camos work much the same as in Call of Duty, with every weapon now having 11 different camos that players can unlock upon getting a certain number of headshot kills.

The update also brings two new weapons to the player’s arsenal, the first of which is the Spade, which hits heavily at the cost of attack speed. The second weapon is the iconic Thompson submachine gun, which is essentially a jack-of-all-trades as most of its stats are average, except for weak damage and high accuracy.

Many quality-of-life improvements were also implemented, most notably the increased damage to the Bren light machine gun and the increase in its price. A series of minor changes also occurred, like repairing barricades now awarding players extra points, more randomized spawn locations, and many more.

While Nasty Zombies is designed as a homage, the game still stands on its merits. It features unique PSX-style visuals, randomized map layouts, customizable player characters, and an occult-inspired World War 2 setting. The game also features an unobtrusive out-of-game progression system where players can purchase perks and power-ups. Upon starting a new game, players can equip and add power-ups to the rotation.

You can even tweak your experience using many more options. Currently, there is only one available map, but there are plenty of modifiers, such as instant zombie spawns to speed up round progression, locking the player inside the main building, and reducing their health for extra challenges.

Nasty Zombies is currently available on Steam.
