Prepare Your Heart for the Last of Us Season 2 This April on Max

The pivotal moment in the lives of Joel and Ellie approaches fast, as HBO has finally confirmed that The Last of Us Season 2 will arrive on the streaming platform Max this coming April 13.

Alongside the date, HBO has also revealed new character posters with the central cast members of Joel(Pedro Pascal), Ellie (Bella Ramsey), and Abby (Kaitlyn Dever) front and centre. Specific character touches like the guitar, the wristwatch, and the Fireflies emblem further accentuate the character’s alignment.

Season 2 of The Last of Us picks up five years after the events of Season 1, with a seven-episode run. Joel and Ellie’s collective past catches up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind. Even so, the upcoming season will only cover parts of the second game, with the show slated for a four-season run.

Along with the abovementioned trio, returning to the cast will be Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. In addition, the cast also includes Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara will also be a guest star.

The first season of The Last of Us largely stayed faithful as an adaptation of the critically acclaimed action adventure from 2013, portraying a post-apocalyptic world overrun by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus. Hostile human factions and cannibalistic creatures are now part of the furniture, making life much more treacherous than before. It is against this backdrop that we follow the story of Joel and Ellie and an examination of human nature and the will to survive at all costs.

The Last of Us Season 2 will begin airing on April 13 on Max.
