Winston Duke Wants Batman Role in James Gunn's Dc Universe

Actors are often asked to take on different roles to bring various characters to life, but it is often for distinct genres and stories, allowing viewers to have a fresh experience every time on the big screen. That is not stopping Winston Duke, who plays M’Baku in Marvel’s Black Panther franchise, from lobbying for the role of Bruce Wayne, AKA Batman, in the DC Universe for The Brave and the Bold.

With James Gunn leading a revamped direction for the DC Universe alongside Peter Safran, the role of Batman is once again up for grabs, and Duke wants the opportunity to redefine the World’s Greatest Detective in the eyes of fans.

Speaking with SlashFilm, Duke said that he would “love to do that as Batman. I’d love any opportunity to explore new characters, to change narratives around some of these entrenched ideas of how these characters are supposed to look, sound, and perform. I’m all for it.” The actor goes even further by suggesting that fans start a campaign for him to do just that.

Duke has previous experience as the Caped Crusader. He voiced the hero in the podcast series Batman Unburied, which was written by David S. Goyer, the same writer responsible for The Dark Knight movie trilogy. From a physical standpoint, the actor definitely has what it takes to take on the role, as does his natural charisma when it comes to the billionaire side of the coin.

The Brave and the Bold will introduce audiences to a brand new Batman, whether it be Winston Duke or not, as part of the first phase of the DC Universe reboot, with the tag of Gods and Monsters and targeting a 2027 release. Batman won’t be the only one getting a new look, as Superman is also one of the key characters that will chart this new direction for DC.
