Take-Two Shuts Down GTA VI Digital-Only Launch Rumours
As one of the most anticipated video game releases of all time, Grand Theft Auto VI has inevitably become a target for speculation, misinformation, and attempts to exploit its demand. In recent months, rumours circulated suggesting Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive were considering a digital-first launch, with physical copies delayed to reduce the risk of leaks and early resale.
Those claims struck a nerve with collectors and players who still prefer physical editions, particularly given the history of rogue retailers selling high-profile games early and spoilers spreading online. However, Take-Two has now firmly denied those reports.
Official Denial From Leadership
In an interview with Variety, Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick directly addressed the speculation, stating unequivocally that the company has no plans to delay the physical release of GTA VI. According to Zelnick, the rumours were simply untrue.
This clarification confirms that the blockbuster game will follow a traditional launch model, with physical and digital editions releasing simultaneously. For players concerned about being forced into a digital-only purchase at launch, Take-Two’s message is clear.

Day-One Physical Release Locked In
By publicly rejecting the earlier claims, Take-Two has reaffirmed its commitment to a day-one boxed release for GTA VI alongside its digital version. The company also reiterated in its latest financial report that the game remains on track for its scheduled launch on November 19 with no additional delays planned.
Take-Two noted that its marketing campaign for GTA VI will begin rolling out in summer 2026, though specific details about trailers, showcases, or hands-on previews have yet to be revealed.
PC Version Still Unconfirmed
While the console release plans are now clear, questions remain around the game’s availability on PC. The game is currently confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but Take-Two has yet to provide a concrete PC release window.
Despite repeated acknowledgements of PC as a critical platform for Rockstar titles, fans will have to wait longer for official confirmation. For now, physical collectors can take some reassurance in knowing that GTA VI will not leave them behind at launch.
