Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis End of Service Date Confirmed by Square Enix

Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will end service on October 6. Once the servers go offline, the free-to-play RPG will no longer be playable across iOS, Android, and PC via Steam. Depending on the region, the shutdown will fall on October 7 for some players due to time zone differences.

The decision brings Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis to an end just over three years after its original mobile launch in September 2023. In its official notice, Square Enix said it had determined that continuing to provide the expected level of service would be difficult, while apologising for the abrupt announcement.

Red Crystal Sales Have Already Ended

As part of the shutdown process, Square Enix has already ended sales of paid Red Crystals, the game’s premium in-game currency. Players who still have Red Crystals in their accounts can use them until the service ends. After the shutdown date, account information will be deleted once all end-of-service procedures are complete.

Refunds for unused paid currency are only being offered to players residing in Taiwan, with further details to be provided later through the game and official website.

Events Will Continue Until Shutdown

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis End of Service Date Confirmed by Square Enix

Although the end date is now set, Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis will not immediately stop receiving content. Square Enix says in-game events are still scheduled for release and updates through the end. That gives remaining players a limited window to finish ongoing content, spend unused currency, and revisit the game’s story material before access is removed.

That final stretch will likely matter most to long-time Final Fantasy VII fans. Ever Crisis was not only a mobile retelling of familiar events. It also added new story material connected to the wider Final Fantasy VII universe, including original content focused on Sephiroth’s younger years.

No Offline Version Has Been Announced

At the time of writing, Square Enix has not announced an offline version of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis. That makes the shutdown especially frustrating for players who engaged with the game for its story. Live-service mobile titles often disappear once servers close, and unless Square Enix confirms another preservation plan, Ever Crisis may become difficult to revisit after October.

The issue is bigger than one game. Final Fantasy VII has become one of Square Enix’s most expanded universes, with remakes, spin-offs, films, novels, and mobile projects all contributing to its wider mythology. When a live-service entry contains exclusive narrative material, its shutdown raises obvious concerns about long-term access.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis Ends After Three Years

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis launched as part of Square Enix’s effort to make the wider Final Fantasy VII timeline more accessible through a modern mobile format. Its concept was strong: retell key moments from the original game and surrounding compilation entries while adding new stories within the same universe.

For some fans, it became a useful companion to the ongoing Remake trilogy. For others, its gacha structure and live-service design made it harder to embrace fully, and now, its remaining time is limited. Players have until October 6 to spend currency, clear content, and experience what remains of Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis before the game reaches its final chapter.
