Tropico 7 Release Date Set for January 28, 2027

El Presidente has finally decided when his next reign will begin. Kalypso Media and Gaming Minds Studios have confirmed that Tropico 7 will launch on January 28, 2027, revealing the date alongside the city-builder’s first full gameplay trailer at Gamescom 2026.

The new footage builds considerably on the gameplay teaser we saw earlier this year, showing how its expanded political systems, terraforming, and new city-building tools will change life under El Presidente. Tropico 7 launches for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass access available from day one.

Tropico 7 Lets El Presidente Literally Move Mountains

Terraforming remains one of the biggest additions to Tropico 7, giving players considerably more control over the islands they rule.

Mountains can be removed, beaches created, and entirely new islands formed to make room for whatever grand project El Presidente considers essential. Roads are receiving more flexibility too, including curved layouts and, finally, roundabouts.

Those tools should prove useful across some of the largest islands the series has offered. Beyond five campaign maps, Tropico 7 includes 10 additional scenarios, more than 20 sandbox maps and a random map generator.

Politics Get More Personal

Running Tropico still involves considerably more than making the island look pretty. A new political matrix influences El Presidente’s position, with available edicts shifting depending on where he stands politically. Faction leaders can also be summoned directly to council meetings, creating opportunities to negotiate, manipulate or simply disappoint whichever part of the population is currently demanding attention.

Elections and speeches return, while the campaign introduces Victoria Guerra as a new rival to El Presidente and his reliably loyal assistant Penultimo. The military system is also being reworked, giving players more direct control over units when rebels or foreign threats become a little too troublesome.

Launches Day One on Game Pass

Building placement will gain new synergy effects, while parks can be freely sized to make better use of unused spaces. El Presidente’s palace and appearance can also be customised with additional options. After all, what good is absolute power if you cannot even build a roundabout exactly where you want one?

Tropico 7 launches on January 28, 2027 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox on PC. It will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass from launch.
