Witchbrook Opens College Doors in January 2027

Pack the broom and prepare for classes, because Chucklefish has finally put a firm date on Witchbrook. The magical life-sim will launch on January 28, 2027 for PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with the PS5 version newly confirmed during Nintendo’s latest Indie World Showcase.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also be able to enrol from day one. The January date follows a lengthy development period that previously saw the game move beyond its original Winter 2025 window.

Turns Magical Studies Into a Full College Life

Players arrive in the seaside town of Mossport as a new witch-in-training at Witchbrook College, where getting through school means considerably more than waving a wand around.

Classes cover subjects including Alchemy, Astrology, Tarot and Rituals, with assignments, studying and exams eventually unlocking new spells and expanding a student’s magical knowledge.

The new trailer shows that routine in greater detail, moving between spellcasting, library sessions, potion and salve making, tarot readings and encounters with some of Mossport’s magical creatures. It also introduces Witchbrook College’s ghostly Chancellor, affectionately nicknamed the “Deadmaster” by students.

Romance, Witch Businesses and Four-Player Co-Op Fill the Time Between Classes

College life extends well beyond the lecture hall. Players can develop friendships and romantic relationships across Mossport, join clubs, attend seasonal events and spend quieter days fishing, birdwatching or catching bugs. A woodland cottage can also be renovated and its surrounding garden customised over time.

Magic can even become a source of income. Players can establish their own witch business and use what they learn at college to provide services to the local community, giving life outside school its own progression alongside the path towards graduation.

Everything can be experienced alone or through online co-op for up to four players, with friends able to explore Mossport and build their own lives alongside one another. Witchbrook was already part of the early Nintendo Switch 2 line-up, but its newly confirmed PlayStation 5 version considerably broadens where that multiplayer life can unfold.

Physical Editions Will Follow Later

The January launch will initially focus on digital versions, but physical collectors have not been forgotten. In its latest Witchbrook development update, Chucklefish confirmed that both Standard and Collector’s physical editions are in development. Those versions will arrive sometime after the digital release so they do not affect the January schedule, with platforms, contents and pricing to be revealed later.

The game will also support English, French, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese at launch.

After years of glimpses at Mossport, changing release windows and increasingly detailed development updates, Witchbrook finally has a first day of class. Witchbrook College opens on January 28, 2027.
