Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 Launches November 6
Activision and Infinity Ward have detailed the first major content drop for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, with Season 1 launching on November 6 at 1pm SGT across all platforms. The update expands Multiplayer with new and returning maps, opens another dangerous location for DMZ and begins the full integration of Modern Warfare 4 with Call of Duty: Warzone.
Players will not have to wait until then for something new, either. Halloween brings Infected and Possession into the pre-season festivities ahead of the main update.
Season 1 arrives less than two weeks after launch, building on a package we found particularly convincing in our Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 review, where Multiplayer refinement and the substantially expanded DMZ stood out alongside its campaign.
Backstab, Canyon and Shoot House Lead the Multiplayer Maps
Three 6v6 maps headline the Multiplayer additions at launch. Backstab takes players into a snow-covered, war-torn settlement filled with abandoned armour and damaged buildings, while Canyon exchanges the cold for exposed desert terrain surrounded by towering rock formations.
Shoot House also returns in a reimagined form, relocating the familiar close-quarters battleground to snowy North Korea. Kill Block receives its own Crash configuration, too. Unlike the usual modular layouts, its three sections remain fixed between rounds, using a combination Infinity Ward selected based on popular arrangements from the beta.
Grind and Drop Zone return alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1, while Gauntlet 1v1 arrives through the Wager Match Event. Players can wager earned trophies before entering consecutive one-on-one Gunfight matches, with the winner staying on to face the next opponent. More maps follow during Season 1 Reloaded, including Ministry, set around a Global Peace Summit, and Overflow, combining farmland with an industrial facility and mobile missile launchers.

DMZ Opens the X01 Facility
DMZ players are getting an entirely new location underneath Hajin. Designation X01 is a former Russian weapons facility seized by North Korean forces, sending squads through cargo bays, vehicle depots, underground production areas and a sealed Deep Vault. Ghost acts as the Watcher guiding Operators through new Orders as they descend further into the facility, where changing hazards and stronger enemies complicate extraction.
X01 also adds equipment unavailable elsewhere in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, while Commander Hunts and other seasonal events provide additional reasons to return. Extraction itself can become more difficult as the facility begins sealing exits, forcing squads to complete specific steps before they can escape.
That considerably expands the extraction mode only weeks after DMZ launched with its own 70-level progression system, Forward Operating Base and equipment economy.
Call of Duty: Warzone Gets Hajin and Zodiac
Call of Duty: Warzone joins the new seasonal ecosystem with Hajin and Zodiac, alongside returning Verdansk and Rebirth Island. Activision is holding back the full Warzone Season 1 roadmap until November 2, so details on its new modes and gameplay changes remain limited for now. Across the wider game, the Season 1 Battle Pass introduces the Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle and CSG-35 SMG, with the full-auto JAK 12 Shotgun and ZLR Talonhawk melee weapon joining later.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Battle Pass follows a linear 100-tier structure and adds a new catch-up system for premium owners. Players who fall behind can automatically catch up to the reward corresponding with the current day of the season, up to Day 50. BlackCell returns as well, this time led by XERO, alongside additional Operator skins, weapon blueprints and DMZ benefits.
