ELO Sentinel XR Gaming Glasses Head to Gamescom 2026
After two years of development, ELO Gaming is bringing the finished Sentinel XR Gaming Glasses to Gamescom 2026, giving attendees their first opportunity to try the hardware ahead of customer shipments beginning in October.
Rather than functioning as a standalone headset, the Sentinel XR is designed as a portable private display for devices players already own. A wired USB-C connection allows it to work with compatible smartphones, PCs, handheld gaming systems and other devices capable of outputting video over USB-C.
The idea is to give players a much larger virtual screen without having to carry a monitor around, making it potentially useful for handheld gaming, remote play, cloud streaming or simply watching content away from a television.
Uses Dual 1080p OLED Displays at 120Hz
Inside the glasses are two Sony OLED displays, each running at Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate and claimed 1ms response time. A 52-degree field of view is intended to create the effect of playing on a much larger screen, while electrochromic lenses can block up to 99.7% of surrounding light when players want greater isolation.
ELO has also kept the weight relatively low at 80g, which could prove important for longer sessions compared to bulkier XR and VR headsets. Software-adjustable interpupillary distance is included, alongside myopia adjustment from 0 to-5.0D, potentially reducing the need for corrective lenses for some users.

Targeting Existing Gaming Hardware
One of the more practical advantages is that the glasses are not tied to its own software ecosystem. Its USB-C connection means players can potentially move between a handheld PC, smartphone or laptop without changing displays, provided the device supports compatible video output.
That makes it less of a traditional XR platform and more of a wearable gaming monitor, which may suit players who already own hardware such as handheld gaming PCs but want a larger display while travelling. The Gamescom demonstrations will focus on showing the display in action through video and movie content, although the company is positioning the glasses primarily around gaming use.
Starts Shipping in October
Gamescom attendees can try the finished hardware from August 26 to August 30 at Hall 10.1, Booth F-060. Whether an 80g wearable display can become a practical replacement for a portable monitor remains to be seen, but the combination of 120Hz OLED panels and broad USB-C compatibility gives Sentinel an interesting pitch for gamers who regularly play away from a traditional setup.
The ELO Sentinel XR Gaming Glasses will retail for €499 or US$599, with customer shipments scheduled to begin in October.
