Front Mission 3: Remake Launches This June on Nintendo Switch

As a surprise, Front Mission 3: Remake is set to be released in June 2025.

Unlike FromSoftware, which boldly revived its beloved Armored Core franchise, Square Enix has yet to show a strong interest in bringing back its own mecha strategy series, Front Mission, on a larger scale. However, there has been a consistent effort to reintroduce this classic franchise to modern audiences through a series of remakes. After remastering the first two entries, the most acclaimed installment in the series is finally here in the form of Front Mission 3: Remake.

In an unexpected announcement, publisher Forever Entertainment and developer MegaPixel Studio officially confirmed the existence of the new remake, along with its release date, which is just around the corner on June 26.

As with the previous modern treatments, the content of Front Mission 3: Remake is expected to remain largely unchanged. The game will retain its iconic dual-storyline structure, allowing players to experience two different narrative paths depending on choices made at a key point in the game. What players can expect, however, is a visual overhaul that brings improved graphics and enhanced animations to match modern standards.

The remake also introduces several modern updates aimed at enhancing the overall experience. These include a fully re-orchestrated soundtrack and new quality-of-life features such as a Quick Combat Mode, which is designed to streamline gameplay during battles. Fans will be pleased to know that the core elements that made Front Mission 3 special, such as deep customization options for the Wanzers (the game’s mecha units), will remain fully intact.

With its strategic gameplay, compelling storylines, and fresh visual polish, Front Mission 3: Remake is poised to reignite interest in one of the most respected tactical RPGs of its time. Whether that will result in a new entry or another remaster of the fourth game, it remains to be seen.

Front Mission 3: Remake is scheduled to release June 26 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
