Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls Steam Listing Points to Unpopular Region Locking

Marvel Tokon now has a Steam store page with Sony’s "signature" region-lock system in place.

One of the most surprising and exciting announcements from this year’s summer gaming events was undoubtedly the reveal of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. The game didn’t just captivate fans of the fighting genre, it also drew in Marvel enthusiasts who simply love the characters. Anticipation for the title continues to rise, especially with the involvement of veteran fighting game developer Arc System Works. However, fans wanting to play on the PC version may be facing some hurdles.

For those unfamiliar, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is a collaboration between three powerhouse names: PlayStation, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games. The game stands out not only for its mysterious 4v4 combat system, which has yet to be fully unveiled, but also for the claim that it will be one of the most ambitious fighting games ever developed in terms of budget.

Sony will be helping Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launch on PC, just like several of their other live service titles. While a precise release date has not yet been confirmed, the game already has an official Steam store page, signaling that PC support is a priority from day one.

Unfortunately, it seems that Sony has once again implemented its region-locking restrictions on the Steam store page. This means that hundreds of countries may be unable to purchase or play the game through official channels, situation that feels especially contradictory given Sony’s recent softening stance on PC region-locking, seen after the success of Stellar Blade.

With a projected release sometime in 2026, there’s still time for Sony to reconsider this controversial policy. But for now, players across many regions are once again left with uncertainty and concern. If Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls truly lives up to its potential, it could become one of the greatest fighting games of all time. Yet, it may appear that not everyone will get the chance to experience it legally.
