NBA The Run Legends Update Brings Five 2000s Icons to the Court
NBA The Run is leaning hard into 2000s nostalgia with its biggest update yet, adding Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, and Dirk Nowitzki to the 3v3 streetball game. The Wave One – 2000s Legends update is available now, giving each of the five Hall of Famers a stylised appearance and signature abilities reflecting what made them such dangerous players.
Iverson brings his crossover game, Carter leans into explosive dunks, McGrady can score from practically anywhere, Garnett brings defensive strength, and Nowitzki adds another serious outside-shooting threat.
Each legend costs 5,000 in-game CRED individually, while players can immediately unlock all five together for US$9.99. The additions build on the roster expansion already mapped out in the game’s post-launch content roadmap. You can see all five legends in action through the new 2000s Legends gameplay trailer.
Dyckman NYC and New Cameras Expand NBA The Run
The legends are the paid portion of the update, but much more is coming for everyone else. Dyckman NYC joins the selection of streetball courts with both daytime and tournament variants, expanding on the international playground approach established when NBA The Run was first revealed.
Two new camera options are also available. Drive Cam introduces an overhead viewpoint, while Drive Flip Cam provides another way to follow the fast-paced 3v3 action.

Players can expect additional dunks, taunts and original music too, alongside the game’s first licensed tracks. Tournament winners can also earn a new championship belt to commemorate their victories.
Custom Matches and Practice Mode Make Their Debut
Two useful additions should make it easier to play outside the usual competitive structure. Custom Matches allow players to create private parties and choose their preferred court and ruleset before playing with or against a friend online.
Meanwhile, Practice Mode lets players select a court and ruleset before facing AI opponents, providing somewhere to experiment without jumping straight into online competition. It is another step forward for a game that launched earlier this year after first bringing its arcade-focused 3v3 streetball to consoles and PC in June.
Gameplay Gets More Moves and Goaltending Changes
The update also introduces new standing dunks and driving layups, along with additional advanced moves and further player tuning. Goaltending has been nerfed as part of the gameplay adjustments, although the announcement does not detail the exact numerical changes.
NBA The Run is now available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The Standard Edition normally costs US$29.99 and is currently discounted by up to 34%, while the US$39.99 Deluxe Edition is 25% off across platforms as part of the upcoming NBA season celebrations.
