Nordcurrent Announces I Am Machine, a Post-Apocalyptic Rogue-lite Launching November

I Am Machine Brings Cybernetic Chaos to PC This November

Humanity’s Last Stand

Nordcurrent has unveiled I Am Machine, a brutal isometric roguelite set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland overrun by mechanical horrors. The game officially launches on November 6, with its first Steam demo arriving on October 10 ahead of Steam Next Fest.

Blending fast-paced action, base-building strategy, and grim storytelling, I Am Machine drops players into a world where the line between man and machine has been violently erased. Players take control of Erik, a survivor-turned-cybernetic warrior who’s lost everything to the uprising — his home, his humanity, and his daughter, who remains captive somewhere within the metallic sprawl.

Players must battle through shifting biomes, adapting to deadly mechanical foes while scavenging for the tools needed to rebuild and survive. Each encounter is dynamic, demanding sharp reflexes and constant tactical adjustments.

Absorb, Adapt, and Evolve

The core of I Am Machine’s combat lies in its Absorb and Flare mechanic, a system that allows players to steal enemy abilities and unleash them in devastating counterattacks. Every mechanical opponent becomes both a threat and a resource — their powers, once claimed, can completely shift the flow of battle.

Beyond direct combat, Erik can harvest scrap and resources from fallen machines to build defensive systems such as automated turrets and laser grids. These player-built installations transform each skirmish into a balance of improvisation and strategy, rewarding creative play over repetition.

Building Strength in the Ruins

Between combat runs, players will return to the hideout, a hub that acts as both a safe haven and a strategic workshop. Here, players can repair damaged equipment, craft upgrades, and unlock new gear critical for survival in later biomes.

As Erik explores the wasteland, he’ll also encounter scattered survivors who share fragments of humanity’s fall, revealing how the mechanical uprising reshaped the planet. These encounters lend the game a narrative weight often missing from traditional rogue-lites, turning each run into more than a fight for survival — it’s a search for meaning amid extinction.

Demo and Release Details

For those drawn to the intensity of Hades and the bleak atmosphere of The Ascent, I Am Machine looks set to combine both worlds — where every kill, upgrade, and flare brings humanity one step closer to reclaiming the Earth.

The demo will be available October 10, giving players an early chance to experience its blend of tight combat and evolving systems. The full game launches November 6 for PC, with Nordcurrent promising additional updates and expansions post-launch.
