Obsession Fortnite Crossover Brings Nikki to Fortnitemares

Epic Games is adding one of this year’s breakout horror characters to Fortnite, with Obsession protagonist Nikki joining the battle royale as part of Fortnitemares. The crossover arrives October 21 and brings the character portrayed by Inde Navarrette into the shooter with an outfit based on her appearance in Curry Barker’s psychological horror film.

Epic initially teased the collaboration with the One Wish Willow, the cursed object at the centre of the film, before Nikki’s full in-game look emerged ahead of release. It is another example of just how quickly the game can pull something from current pop culture into its ever-growing crossover catalogue.

Epic has already spent the year bringing together an increasingly strange mix of familiar faces, including the gaming-heavy collaborations surrounding the Override season.

Nikki Brings the One Wish Willow and Broken Bottle

Nikki’s cosmetic set pulls directly from some of Obsession’s most recognisable imagery. The outfit recreates the red-and-black look worn by Navarrette’s character, complete with an alternate Splatter style. The One Wish Willow appears as Back Bling, while Nikki’s Broken Bottle becomes a Pickaxe.

The set also includes a “No No No” emote inspired by one of Nikki’s most widely shared moments from the film. A full cosmetic showcase shared by leaker HYPEX shows the emote using signs to recreate the scene before Nikki delivers the familiar expression that has since become a meme in its own right.

The crossover is unusually timely too. With the breakout film arriving earlier this year, Nikki’s transition from horror breakout to playable character is much faster than many older film and television properties that have joined the game.

Inde Navarrette Has a Particularly Fitting Connection

Another nice wrinkle to Nikki joining the game: Navarrette is already a keen gamer. Before Obsession turned her into one of this year’s breakout horror performers, the actress streamed games online, including Fortnite. That makes seeing herself become a playable character in one of the world’s biggest games a particularly fitting milestone.

The shooter has grown increasingly comfortable dipping into horror for seasonal events, and this crossover fits neatly into Fortnitemares without needing monsters or elaborate weapons to make it recognisable. The Willow, broken bottle and Nikki’s now-famous expressions do most of the work.

The Obsession cosmetics featuring Nikki arrive in the Item Shop on October 21 as part of this year’s Fortnitemares celebrations. Pricing has yet to be confirmed.
