Hyper Light Breaker Roadmap Teases Hotfixes & a Brand New Character

Hyper Light Breaker

Hyper Light Breaker, the sequel to 2016’s Hyper Light Drifter, developed by Heart Machine, was released as an early access game on Steam this year. As of today, the developers have released their Spring Roadmap, detailing their development plans from this month until April, and it is to be followed up by a Summer Roadmap in May.

Hyper Light Breaker is an open-world roguelite and acts as a prequel to the original game with a massive overhaul to the visuals and environment, now being procedurally generated in full rendered in 3D, shaking up the hack-and-slash RPG aspects of the first entry in the series. The story follows the player character being sent to The Overgrowth on a mission to assist the settlement, only to uncover a deeper evil lying in wait.

Since its release, the game has received a mixed reception. Many players have expressed issues with many aspects of the core design, such as hitboxes, the combat loop, movement, difficulty, and more. The general consensus is that it is deeply flawed but has potential if the developers can improve upon it.

In their roadmap, Heart Machine disclosed a series of game updates, each divided into three categories: Hotfixes, Monthly Updates, and Major Content updates. These updates promise to bring bug fixes, gameplay improvements, additional story and side content, and much more.

Player feedback will also influence the content of these updates, as Heart Machine states its intention to continue listening to the community and tweaking the game accordingly. Since the release and the game’s mixed reception, the developers have dedicated much of their work to improving its flaws.

The first of this series of updates is set to launch on 18 February. It will bring several new features, including a new highly anticipated playable character, Ravona, new enemy types, a new Elite, several performance improvements, balancing updates, and more.

Hyper Light Breaker is currently available on Steam for $29.99.
