Lies of P Overture Expansion is About 20 Hours Long, Not Tied to Ending

Developing a Soulslike game that receives widespread acclaim and is celebrated for its quality is quite an achievement in itself. NEOWIZ and ROUND8 Studio accomplished that with Lies of P, a game built upon the classic fairy tale Pinocchio. And for those who fell in love with the original game, its upcoming expansion, Overture, is set to offer an exciting new experience.

Introduced not too long ago through a beautifully crafted and intriguing trailer, Neowiz has already shared some key details about Overture. One of the more fascinating revelations is that the expansion will serve as a prequel, incorporating time travel elements into its narrative. That has made many fans curious whether it will be linked to one of the most shocking endings in the base game.

Speaking to IGN, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi confirmed that the expansion will not be connected to the ending that seemingly teased a crossover with another famous fairy tale. Players hoping to find answers regarding that particular storyline will not find them in Overture.

The ending being cited is that of the teased appearance of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. The final cutscene showed Paracelcus in a phone conversation, mentioning that he will “find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy.” This set things up so that players will cross paths with another well-known character, but that won’t happen in Overture.

Choi also provided an estimate regarding the Lies of P expansion’s length, stating that Overture will offer approximately 15-20 hours of gameplay for experienced players. The expansion will be accessible once players reach a specific chapter in the base game and will continue from there. Of course, players can expect new areas, monsters, and characters to enrich the experience further.

“When you play through the base game again, you’ll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience,” Choi said. “A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you’ll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn’t get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in the expansion.”

Lies of P – Overture is currently scheduled for release in Summer 2025, though Neowiz has yet to announce a specific launch date.
