Lies of P DLC to Introduce Difficulty Options for Accessibility

What makes a Soulslike title truly special? One of its core characteristics is the notoriously challenging difficulty level, carefully crafted by developers to test a player’s resolve. Traditionally, gamers have no control over this aspect and are forced to persevere through even the most daunting challenges. However, this will soon change with Lies of P.

NEOWIZ has officially announced that Lies of P will introduce selectable difficulty levels (h/t VGC) with the release of its upcoming expansion, Overture. According to Game Director Jiwon Choi, this decision was made to make Lies of P more accessible to a broader audience. By offering adjustable difficulty levels, the studio hopes to expand the game’s player base and welcome more gamers into the world of Krat.

When Overture launches, players will be able to choose between new difficulty modes named “Butterfly’s Guidance” and “Awakened Puppet.” These will also be implemented into the base version of the game. The existing standard difficulty mode, which players have become accustomed to since the game’s initial launch, will now be rebranded as “Legendary Stalker.” Unfortunately, no detailed information has been shared yet about how the easier difficulty options will alter gameplay.

Beyond difficulty settings, the Overture update will also introduce a new Boss Rush mode called Battle Memories. This feature will become available after completing the main game at least once. As expected, players will be able to re-engage in boss battles with a tiered challenge system. The mode includes five tiers, with Tier 5 offering the highest difficulty and exclusive rewards for those who can conquer it.

Still craving more challenge? The expansion will also include an additional game mode called Death March. This brutal mode will have players facing three bosses back-to-back with extremely limited resources, including a reduced number of items and Pulse Cells, pushing even the most skilled players to their limits.

All of these exciting new features will be available when Overture releases in the summer of 2025. However, a specific release date has yet to be announced.
