Sony WH-1000XM4C Refreshes a Familiar Favourite

Sony is giving one of its most popular wireless headphones a new lease of life with the WH-1000XM4C, a refreshed take on the WH-1000XM4 arriving in Singapore this month. Rather than redesigning the headphones from scratch, Sony is keeping the familiar lightweight, foldable over-ear design and 1000X Series noise-cancelling while updating the sound.

The WH-1000XM4C features revised sound tuning intended to better suit current listening preferences, alongside a new 10-band equaliser for more granular personalisation. It also comes in a new Lavender colour, joining Black and Platinum Silver.

Sony has set the WH-1000XM4C at SG$419, with availability beginning in September. Interestingly, it joins rather than replaces Sony’s newer WH-1000XM6, giving buyers another premium option based around the older XM4 design.

WH-CH730N Pushes Battery Life to 50 Hours

Sony is also updating its mid-range noise-cancelling headphones with the WH-CH730N, priced at SG$169. The new over-ear model uses Dual Noise Sensor technology and adds a lighter, foldable design, addressing a practical concern for commuters who need to pack their headphones away regularly.

Battery life reaches up to 50 hours with noise-cancelling enabled, while a three-minute quick charge provides around an hour of playback. Call quality has improved with Precise Voice Pickup Technology, which combines beamforming microphones with AI-powered noise reduction. Multipoint connectivity, LE Audio, Fast Pair and Swift Pair are also included.

The WH-CH730N comes in Black, White, Pink, Blue and the newly added Beige, with Singapore availability expected from the end of September.

WH-CH530 Offers Prolonged Hours of Listening

At the more affordable end sits the new WH-CH530, an on-ear model aimed at everyday listening, online learning and first-time wireless headphone buyers. Priced at SG$79, it offers up to 55 hours of battery life, with three minutes of charging providing another 1.5 hours of playback.

Sony has also added AI noise reduction for clearer calls, customisable EQ settings, Multipoint connectivity and LE Audio support. One particularly useful addition is adjustable maximum volume control with five levels, giving users greater control over listening volume. The WH-CH530 will be available in six colours: Black, White, Pink, Cobalt, Coral and Mint. Singapore availability begins around mid-September.

Taken together, the three releases give Sony a much clearer ladder across its wireless headphone range. The WH-CH530 covers the entry level, the WH-CH730N adds active noise cancelling without reaching premium pricing, while the WH-1000XM4C brings back a familiar 1000X design for listeners who may not want to move straight to the WH-1000XM6.
