Phantom Blade Zero Pre-Orders Open on August 11

S-GAME has confirmed that development on Phantom Blade Zero is now complete, putting the action RPG firmly on track for its October 29 launch on PlayStation 5 and PC.

The update is the clearest sign yet that the long-awaited title is nearing the finish line. After years of trailers, hands-on showcases, and combat demonstrations, Phantom Blade Zero has reached the point where its main build is ready for release.

Pre-orders will open on August 11 at 7 PM PT, which falls on August 12 at 10 AM Beijing Time. They will go live across PlayStation Store, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.

A New 11-Minute Trailer Is Coming With Pre-Orders

S-GAME is not opening pre-orders quietly. The studio will release a new 11-minute trailer at the same time, giving players a longer look at what the final game is shaping up to be. According to S-GAME, the trailer will include new story content, characters, combat footage, and “something unexpected”.

That last tease is doing a lot of work, but the safer expectation is that the trailer will focus on the parts players still want to understand properly before committing. Phantom Blade Zero has already impressed with its speed, animation work, and sharp martial arts direction, but there are still questions around structure, progression, enemy variety, and how exploration fits around the action. An extended trailer is a good chance to answer some of that.

Soul’s Story Centres on Revenge and Conspiracy

Phantom Blade Zero follows Soul, a warrior framed for the death of his master and left with only sixty-six days to live. Hunted by former comrades and surrounded by shifting loyalties, Soul is forced into a journey built around revenge, survival, and the search for the truth behind a wider conspiracy.

The world blends wuxia, fantasy, folk horror, and S-GAME’s own KungfuPunk style, giving the game a distinct identity compared with the usual medieval or post-apocalyptic action RPG setup. The result has helped Phantom Blade Zero stand out since its first major reveal. It looks familiar enough for action fans to understand immediately, but different enough to feel like more than another Soulslike chasing the same audience.

S-GAME Still Says It Is Not a Soulslike

While Phantom Blade Zero has dark fantasy imagery, challenging encounters, and a serious tone, the studio has described it as a pure action game built around fast, stylish, cinematic combat. The emphasis is on offence, movement, weapon mastery, and martial arts flow rather than slower stamina-led combat.

That distinction will likely shape expectations going into launch. Players looking for another Elden Ring or Dark Souls may need to recalibrate. Those looking for a sharper character-action experience with wuxia flair may find the pitch more accurate.

October Launch Now Looks Firm

Going gold does not mean a game will arrive in perfect condition, but it does mean the main development build has been completed. Barring an unusual last-minute issue, the October 29 release date now looks firm.

That will come as a relief after Phantom Blade Zero was moved from its original September 9 date. In his earlier letter to players, S-GAME CEO and creator Soulframe said the delay was intended to give the team time to make targeted improvements, including upgraded character models, reworked environments, and additional polish. With development now complete, the remaining wait is much shorter.

Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29 for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
