VOID/BREAKER 1.0 Brings Its Destructive Roguelite FPS to Consoles

A good roguelite build can make players feel dangerously overpowered. Stubby Games would rather let them take that feeling and bring the building down with it.

Published by Playstack, VOID/BREAKER has officially reached version 1.0 following its Early Access run, while simultaneously launching on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The solo-developed high-speed FPS pits players against machines controlled by a hostile AI, with repeated runs built around increasingly absurd weapon combinations, aggressive movement and environments that can be torn apart during combat.

Weapon Mods Are Built to Get Out of Hand

Weapon customisation sits at the heart of VOID/BREAKER, with mods stacking together to fundamentally change how firearms behave rather than simply adding incremental statistical bonuses.

Finding the right combination can turn an otherwise ordinary weapon into something considerably more destructive, encouraging players to experiment with different synergies as routes, enemies and available upgrades change between runs.

That build-crafting focus puts VOID/BREAKER into an increasingly crowded roguelite space where finding an identity beyond repeated deaths is crucial. We saw a similarly build-focused approach in Saros, where repeated runs and escalating combat possibilities drove Housemarque’s brutal sci-fi roguelite.

The difference here is how much Stubby Games wants players to dismantle the spaces around those firefights as well.

Walls and Buildings Become Part of the Arsenal

Environmental destruction is not simply cosmetic. Players can blast through walls to open alternative routes, destroy structures and bring parts of the environment crashing down onto enemies.

Combined with fast movement, that gives combat another avenue beyond simply producing the strongest weapon build. A difficult arena can potentially be reshaped, while environmental objects and destructible structures create additional ways to escape pressure or remove threats.

It is another example of roguelites increasingly looking for mechanical hooks beyond conventional stat stacking. Earlier this year, SWAPMEAT similarly used body-part swapping to give its own 1.0 roguelite loop a more distinctive identity.

For VOID/BREAKER, that identity comes from combining weapon experimentation with the freedom to physically tear combat spaces apart.

VOID/BREAKER 1.0 Finally Adds a Way Out

The full release also completes the journey that Early Access players have been working towards. Version 1.0 introduces Zone 06 and the conclusion of the story, alongside a new boss, additional enemies, another weapon and endgame unlocks. More than 50 new achievements have also been added for players looking for reasons to keep breaking the loop after reaching the ending.

Anyone who purchased VOID/BREAKER on Steam before the 1.0 launch also receives the Supporter’s Pack automatically at no additional cost. The Steam-exclusive pack includes Joe Ford’s official soundtrack, which can also be purchased separately.

VOID/BREAKER is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
