Capcom Spotlight: Onimusha & Monster Hunter Wilds Lead the Way

Capcom Spotlight Onimusha & Monster Hunter Wilds Lead the Way

With some big hitters in the pipeline, Capcom has taken the opportunity to show off more of the games under its umbrella to keep the hype going. At the latest Capcom Spotlight event, we got more details about Monster Hunter Wilds, the Onimusha reboot and remaster, and other exciting developments that fans need to keep an eye on.

Here is everything that was announced:

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

First announced at The Game Awards last year, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is currently in development for a 2026 release. As part of the show, Capcom dropped more details that help illustrate just what kind of game players can expect.

The team’s focus is three-pronged. Compelling characters are the first, with the new protagonist and enemies being the main highlights. This is followed by the setting of Kyoto, a location brimming with historical spots, and lastly, when it comes to fighting the Genma, the goal is for “ultimate sword fighting action” with the “visceral satisfaction of slicing through enemies.”

While Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be a challenging game, the team is aware of the fact that they do not want to make it “impossibly difficult,” so even if you are not that skilled, it is something you can still enjoy.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster

If that wasn’t enough Onimusha, Capcom also revealed that an Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny remaster is on the way for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC in 2025. This will likely be able to tide players through before the arrival of the new entry, and more will be shared in the coming months.

Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta

As for Monster Hunter Wilds, a second open beta test is set to kick off real soon, and Capcom has shared what will be different this time around.

The biggest addition will be the new flagship monster, Arkveld, with players able to test their mettle against this monster as part of an advanced quest. Be sure to bring all your skills and equipment to even stand a chance. Other than that, players can try out training to hone their skills, embark on a Gypceros Hunt, and test other online features like Private Lobbies and Online Single Player mode.

You can transfer your progress from the first open beta test over, with the previous content also part of the new test. Of course, your character data can also be carried over to the main game.

A new story trailer also brought us to the cold environments of the Iceshard Cliffs, with even more daunting monsters awaiting the hunt. Monster Hunter Wilds will launch on February 28, and the second open beta test with cross-play will kick off at the following times:

  • Thursday, February 6 at 11 AM (GMT+8) to Sunday, February 9 at 10:59 AM (GMT+8)
  • Thursday, February 13 at 11 AM (GMT+8) to Sunday, February 16 at 10:59 AM (GMT+8)

Capcom Fighting Collection 2

For those seeking the classic good times from Capcom, you can enjoy the Capcom Fighting Collection 2 on May 16. The collection will include Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2: Mark of the Millennium 2001, Capcom Fighting Evolution, Street Fighter Alpha 3 Upper, Power Stone, Power Stone 2, Project Justice, and Plasma Sword: Night of Bilstein.
