Overwatch 2 Reignites K-Pop Fever with LE SSERAFIM & New Skins

Returning with Le Sserafim, Overwatch 2 Will Offer Five New Skins Along with Recolored Versions of the 2023 Skins.

Riot Games has proven with League of Legends that collaborations with media outside of video games, such as with popular idols, can be highly successful if executed properly, but they aren’t the only ones. Blizzard attempted something similar in 2023 when Overwatch 2 partnered with the K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM. And now, they are bringing the collaboration back.

“This collab is coming back for the second time and dripping with unstoppable confidence, alongside a fierce collection of new and remixed Legendary skins to help you slay your opponents in style,” explained the official blog post.

In terms of cosmetics, this collaboration will introduce recoloured versions of the five skins from the 2023 event while also adding five brand-new skins for Mercy, Junker Queen, D.Va, Ashe, and Illari. These heroes are depicted as concertgoers at an LE SSERAFIM event, with costume designs that reflect that theme.

“But that’s just the opening act! The Ultra Bundle cranks things up with ten Legendary skins, including the dazzling new FEARLESS collection, plus your favorites are back and brighter than ever with bold new looks as Blue Flame Kiriko, D.Va, Sombra, Tracer, and Brigitte. With flexible options, you’ll be able to snag your preferred skins individually or as part of a bundle, because true pop legends play by their own rules,” said the post.

However, this second collaboration is somewhat less ambitious than the first. Unlike the previous event, which was tied to an original song created specifically for Overwatch 2, this iteration will not include the Concert Clash game mode.

Interestingly, the designs for this second collaboration will be crafted entirely by Blizzard Korea Studio, a team with deep knowledge of K-pop culture. Blizzard has stated that their research for this event was extensive, involving the analysis of countless photos, videos, and vlogs from the girl group, as well as studying current streetwear trends. LE SSERAFIM also contributed their own ideas and feedback to the project.

This collaboration content will be available starting March 18, across all platforms that Overwatch 2 is on.
