Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Is Ready For Launch
Ubisoft has confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has gone gold, putting Edward Kenway’s return firmly on course for its July 9 launch.
For Assassin’s Creed fans, that is something worth celebrating. Black Flag remains one of the series’ most beloved entries, thanks to its mix of naval exploration, ship combat, Caribbean adventure and pirate fantasy. With Resynced now past this milestone, the countdown to Ubisoft’s return to the Jackdaw feels much more real.
Edward Kenway Returns In A Full Remake
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is not being positioned as a simple remaster. Ubisoft describes it as a remake rebuilt on the latest version of the Anvil Engine, with upgraded visuals, improved gameplay systems and new content exclusive to this release. The remake includes ray-traced lighting, micropolygon rendering, improved water technology, dynamic weather and smoother open-world streaming.
The core adventure still follows Edward Kenway during the Golden Age of Piracy, but Resynced also adds new story arcs, returning characters, additional missions and three officers who join Edward’s journey as part of the main narrative. Other additions include new sea shanties, pets for the Jackdaw, photo mode and expanded customisation options.
Our time spent with the game confirms as much from a small slice of what’s to come, and it bodes well for the fuller experience.
Ubisoft Is Keeping The Action-Adventure Identity Intact
One of the most important details for longtime fans is that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is staying close to the original game’s action-adventure structure. Rather than shifting Black Flag into the action RPG style of more recent Assassin’s Creed entries, Ubisoft is updating the existing foundation.
Combat has been reworked with new parrying mechanics, quicker firearm and rope dart actions, and new enemy types, while stealth now gives Edward more freedom through crouch-anywhere and dive-anywhere options.
Naval gameplay has also been modernised, with the Jackdaw still sitting at the centre of the experience. For many players, that is the part of Black Flag that made it stand out, and Ubisoft’s decision to build on that identity instead of replacing it should be reassuring.
Pre-Orders And Editions Are Already Live
Ubisoft has confirmed Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s Edition options. Players who pre-order the Standard or Deluxe Edition will receive Blackbeard’s Crimson Pack, which includes a costume for Edward Kenway, a sword and a pistol.
With the game now gone gold, the remaining wait should be less about whether the remake will make its date and more about how well Ubisoft has managed to preserve what made Black Flag special in the first place.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launches on July 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
