GTA VI Launch Trailer Arrives With Just Over a Month to Go

After years of waiting, Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto VI is now just over a month away, and Rockstar has already released what it calls the game’s launch trailer.

Released on October 15, the roughly 90-second video arrives a notable 35 days before the November 19 launch, offering another rapid-fire look at Jason, Lucia and their increasingly dangerous life across Leonida.

Rather than introducing another lengthy gameplay demonstration like Rockstar’s extended look at GTA VI, the trailer concentrates on story scenes and action, with shootouts, police pursuits, piles of cash and the pair’s relationship all getting time in the spotlight.

The trailer also debuts Flower in a Hurricane, a new track from GTA VI score composers Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. The song will appear on the game’s official soundtrack album.

Jason and Lucia Get Caught in a Leonida-Wide Conspiracy

Rockstar’s accompanying synopsis puts a little more context around what sends the pair into trouble. An apparently easy score goes wrong, leaving Jason and Lucia caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida and makes them increasingly dependent on each other to survive.

Their relationship remains one of the more interesting elements of GTA VI. Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson previously confirmed that players can decide how much they engage with the romantic side of their partnership, even though Jason and Lucia remain connected as partners in crime.

The new trailer leans heavily into that intimacy, showing the pair together between the considerably less peaceful sequences of gunfire, robberies and high-speed escapes.

It is another glimpse at the enormous project Rockstar has spent the better part of eight years building since Red Dead Redemption 2. The studio recently explained that the engine and development foundations created for GTA VI should also let Rockstar make future projects faster.

GTA VI Makes The Game Awards Cutoff by One Day

The November 19 date also means GTA VI will be eligible for The Game Awards 2026, although only narrowly. The official rules require games to be commercially available by November 20 at 9 PM PT, putting GTA VI inside the eligibility window by a single day. The Players’ Voice category has a later November 30 cutoff.

This is not a special exception or deadline change made for Rockstar. The Game Awards also explicitly allows publishers to give voting outlets advance or pre-release access when needed for its balloting deadlines.

Eligibility does not guarantee a nomination, of course, but it removes one lingering question surrounding such a late release. Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
