Monster Hunter Wilds Price Cut Begins on August 4

Capcom is lowering the entry price for Monster Hunter Wilds, with the base game set to receive a permanent reduction on August 4. The publisher confirmed the change through its socials, though the exact new price has not yet been revealed.

The move comes at an important time for Monster Hunter Wilds. After an enormous launch, the game has had to work through criticism around performance, balance, and long-term momentum, especially on PC. A lower base price could help bring in players who waited for technical improvements or held off at full price.

Deluxe Edition and Premium Deluxe Edition Are Being Removed

The price cut is arriving alongside a wider restructuring of Monster Hunter Wilds’ digital editions. From August 4, Capcom will discontinue the existing Monster Hunter Wilds Deluxe Edition, Premium Deluxe Edition, and Cosmetic DLC Pass. Players who already own those products will keep access to everything included in them after they are removed from sale.

Capcom also clarified that the DLC packs and individual cosmetic items included in the discontinued products will remain available separately. That should reassure current owners who may be worried about losing content or access when the store lineup changes.

Gold Edition Becomes the New Complete Bundle

Replacing the older bundle structure is Monster Hunter Wilds Gold Edition. The new edition includes the base game and the Cosmetic DLC Collection, making it the most complete package for new players. Capcom is also introducing the Cosmetic DLC Collection as a separate option for players who already own the base game but want all currently available cosmetic DLC in one bundle.

That collection includes Cosmetic DLC Packs 1 to 4, the Festival of Accord DLC Packs for Blossomdance, Flamefete, Dreamspell, and Lumenhymn, the Deluxe Pack, and the new Extras Cosmetic DLC Pack. Premium bonuses from the old Premium Deluxe Edition and Cosmetic DLC Pass will also carry over into the new products.

Ascendance Gives Capcom Another Reason to Reposition Wilds

The timing is likely not accidental. Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance is scheduled for 2027, giving Capcom a major expansion to build towards. Like past Monster Hunter expansions, it is expected to act as a major re-entry point for returning players while giving veteran hunters a reason to come back.

Lowering the base game price before that expansion makes sense. It gives new players more time to catch up, while the Gold Edition offers a cleaner way to buy into the full current package without having to navigate multiple discontinued bundles.

A permanent price cut will not fix every criticism surrounding the game, but it does make the path into Wilds easier. Combined with its new bundle structure and the road to Ascendance, Capcom appears to be preparing the game for a second wave rather than treating launch as the only major moment that matters. For players who waited, August may become a much better time to start hunting.
