Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Revealed as Major 2027 Expansion

Capcom has officially revealed Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, a major expansion for Monster Hunter Wilds scheduled to launch in 2027.

Announced during Summer Game Fest, the expansion continues the story of the Forbidden Lands and sends the Expedition Team to a new locale set among the clouds. The reveal trailer offered a first look at new and returning monsters, refined gameplay mechanics, a high altitude hunting ground, and the long-awaited arrival of Master Rank content.

Skybound Eyrie Opens A New Hunting Frontier

The new locale, known as the Skybound Eyrie, shifts Monster Hunter Wilds away from the ground-level environments of the Forbidden Lands and into islands suspended in the sky.

That change immediately gives Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance a different visual identity. The press materials show hunters moving through ancient structures, open skies, floating landmasses and cloud-filled vistas, suggesting a more vertical and atmospheric hunting ground.

A skybound region gives Capcom space to introduce new threats, traversal ideas and environmental pressure. It also gives the expansion a clear sense of escalation, which is important for a major Monster Hunter follow-up.

Boost Bracer Expands Combat Across All Weapons

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will also introduce the Boost Bracer, a new feature available across all weapon types. The system allows hunters to gather temporary energy from monsters during combat and use it to trigger new boost actions. Capcom shared that these actions will support enhanced attacks, improved mobility and smoother combat coordination.

New attacks and combo routes are also being added to the core controls, giving players more ways to master their chosen weapons. That should matter to longtime hunters, especially once Master Rank raises the difficulty and demands tighter execution during tougher hunts.

Seikret And Exploration Improvements Aim To Smooth The Hunt

Capcom is also improving exploration and support features in the field. The Seikret will receive enhanced actions, including a glide dash and improved response time when called. That should make movement across larger or more vertical spaces feel smoother, particularly within the Skybound Eyrie.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will also include improved support elements during quests and exploration, making the wider hunting loop more accessible. These changes suggest Capcom is continuing to refine how players travel, prepare and react during hunts, providing a better overall experience.

Elder Dragons And Master Rank Raise The Stakes

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Revealed as Major 2027 Expansion

The biggest challenge comes from the return of Elder Dragons and Master Rank content. Capcom has confirmed that new threats will emerge in the Eastlands, with Elder Dragons bringing the kind of danger expected from the series’ most legendary monsters.

Master Rank expansions have traditionally served as the real long-term test for Monster Hunter players, adding tougher encounters, stronger gear, new mechanics and a deeper endgame chase, and that will all arrive with Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance.

With a new skybound region, expanded combat options, Seikret improvements, Elder Dragons and Master Rank arriving together, Capcom is preparing a major next step for the hunt in 2027.
