Remedy's Fbc Firebreak is All About Haunted Hectic Co-op Action

Remedy Entertainment is busier than ever. Following the massive success of Alan Wake 2, the studio has moved on to juggling multiple projects. While working on two major single-player games — Control 2 and the Max Payne 1 + 2 Remake in collaboration with Rockstar Games — they are also developing a multiplayer game set in the Control universe: FBC: Firebreak.

As previously shared by Remedy, FBC: Firebreak is a cooperative multiplayer game that allows up to three players to team up. Set within the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), players take on the role of a special response unit known as Firebreak, tasked with containing bizarre anomalies.

In the latest gameplay feature as part of the Future Games Show, the team showed off some of the threats that need to be taken care of. Who knew that sentient sticky notes could be so deadly? And of course, the ever-present danger of The Hiss continues to haunt The Oldest House.

Not only will players battle these supernatural threats alongside two other teammates, but they will also have the ability to customise their gear and level up their characters. To aid in the fight, players will have access to powerful Altered Augments, which are mysterious supernatural objects with unique abilities.

These seemingly ordinary objects hold extraordinary powers which aid the Firebreak unit in combat. Each Altered Augment comes with a distinct ability that can turn the tide of battle. Some of the revealed Altered Augments include:

  • The Garden Gnome (AI9) – Summons an electrical storm to strike enemies.
  • The Piggy Bank (AI16) – Unleashes an Area of Effect (AoE) damage attack by scattering coins.
  • The Teapot (AI44) – Spills boiling hot water, burning enemies in its path.

With FBC: Firebreak, Remedy Entertainment aims to expand the Control universe into the multiplayer space while maintaining the eerie, supernatural elements that made the original game so compelling. Remedy has also confirmed that FBC: Firebreak is scheduled for release in Summer 2025, though a specific date has yet to be announced. The game will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
