Skull and Bones Year 2 Roadmap is Stacked Includes Land Combat

A lengthy development cycle is never a guarantee of commercial success, no matter how large the budget. Ubisoft’s pirate-themed game Skull and Bones is a prime example. Despite a rocky start, Ubisoft remains committed to keeping the title afloat, and Year 2 is set to bring a few surprises, including that of land combat.

Skull and Bones Year 2

Season 1 – Ascent Into Chaos

But before we get to that, here are the key details in the near future. This week, Year 2 Season 1 will bring Item Ascension, allowing gear to be augmented further with mods so you can further optimise your fleet. This will come in handy with the new World Tiers system, with the current state being World Tier 1. With enough progression, you can unlock World Tier: Cutthroat Seas, where increased difficulty comes with even more loot and resources.

A new boat is also coming to Skull and Bones with the Schooner, which will be a medium-sized option that focus more on DPS and is especially efficient with explosive weapons. At the halfway mark of Season 1, the dedicated PvP experience called Death Tides will arrive, which will revolve around objective-based gameplay.

Season 2 – Oaths of War

With all of the new stuff to change up how you approach the high seas, Year 2 Season 2 of Skull and Bones will welcome a new encounter with the Megafort.

This will test your ability to navigate and fight against overwhelming firepower, and you can level the playing field with the new Frigate. The first large-sized ship in the game, this will be a truly powerful option to turn to if you love cannons and explosions.

Skull and Bones Season 3 – Guts and Glory

The highlight of is undoubtedly the confirmation of land-based combat. While detailed mechanics have yet to be revealed, early footage showcases players and their pirate crews disembarking on islands, engaging in melee combat with cutlasses, and apparently searching for treasure.

The new addition will come alongside the new Reputation and Officer systems, which will give players more to manage as you build a name for yourself.

Season 4 – Eye of the Beast

As for Season 4 for Skull and Bones, a new large ship will be added in the form of the Corvette, which will be handy as you go up against the monstrous Kraken. This is the largest creature in the game, so be prepared. There will also be the new Territorial Control mode to enjoy for PvP.

With Year 2 already underway at the time of this writing, Ubisoft has given players much to look forward to, and who knows, perhaps the game will find new life just like Sea of Thieves.

Skull & Bones is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
