Replaced Release Window Confirmed for Spring 2026
Sad Cat Studios and Thunderful have officially confirmed that their upcoming sci-fi retro-futuristic action platformer, Replaced, will release in Spring 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
The news was revealed in a fresh development update video that gave fans both a progress report and behind-the-scenes footage highlighting how the game has evolved.
Developer Update and Apology
Game Director Yura Zhdanovich addressed the community directly, acknowledging the delays while reassuring players that the game is nearly complete. Game director Yura Zhdanovich said:
We know that our community is incredibly excited to play REPLACED and it’s no secret that it’s taken longer than we initially thought to deliver that to you all — we apologise for that.
We’ve always been trying to do what’s right for the project, which in turn, means delivering to you a truly special experience. The good news is that we now are very close to finishing production and REPLACED will be coming to PC and Xbox Series X|S in Spring 2026.
A Dark 1980s America
Set in an alternate 1980s America, Replaced blends cinematic pixel art with fast-paced platforming and free-flow combat. Players step into the role of R.E.A.C.H., an artificial intelligence trapped unwillingly in a human body.
Navigating the decayed streets of Phoenix-City, players face outlaws and corruption in a society devastated by nuclear catastrophe, where organs are treated as currency by those in power. The game is designed as a single-player narrative experience, mixing cinematic platforming, fluid action, and dystopian storytelling.
Anticipation Remains High

Since its debut, Replaced has become one of the most talked-about indie titles in development. Its atmospheric trailers and hands-on previews have drawn widespread acclaim, including from our time spent with it during Gamescom 2025.
Replaced will launch globally in Spring 2026 on PC and Xbox Series X|S, with no confirmation yet on additional platforms.
