Sheepherds! Demo Brings Cosy Chaos to Steam Next Fest

The cozy co-op game Sheepherds!, developed by Ultimo Disco in partnership with Yahaha Games, is ready to unleash some fluffy fun.

Following its showcase at Six One Indie, the game will launch a brand-new demo for Steam Next Fest on September 29, offering players a deeper taste of its sheep-herding antics.

Herding Goes Next-Level with New Features

The new demo expands on earlier playtests with eight playable levels, including the debut of the glowing, neon-inspired Glowing Fields map and updates to the fan-favourite Mossy Highlands. Players will also get their first glimpse into the game’s overarching story, teased through a mysterious letter delivered in the hub area.

One of the most exciting additions is a 3D multiplayer lobby. While waiting for friends to join, players can kick back, play soccer, pose for selfies, or simply let their sheepdogs run wild. It’s a playful space designed to complement the game’s stress-free co-op spirit.

A Global Audience

Sheepherds! is expanding its accessibility with nine new language options in the demo build, including French, German, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, and both simplified and traditional Chinese. Ultimo Disco emphasised that making the game inclusive for a global audience is central to its development approach.

In addition to localisation, the demo features quality-of-life improvements, including adjustable difficulty, enhanced controller support across Xbox and PlayStation controllers, and refined timed challenges, ensuring that the experience remains welcoming for all ages and skill levels.

A Party Game with Heart

At its core, Sheepherds! is about lighthearted teamwork. Players take on the role of sheepdogs (or sometimes pigs) tasked with herding colourful sheep and gathering wool. With over 15 breeds to unlock, plenty of customisation options, and a mix of optional challenges, the game encourages experimentation and co-op fun without the stress of traditional strategy games.

Whether playing solo, on the couch with family, or online with friends, Sheepherds! is designed to be both approachable and rewarding, blending silly chaos with small but heartfelt storytelling elements.
