Sealbreakers Playtest Plans Bring Fire Sparrow Studio’s Fists-Only Roguelite Back Into View
Fire Sparrow Studio has shared a new gameplay trailer for Sealbreakers during The MIX Summer Game Showcase 2026, giving players another look at its weapon-free roguelite beat ’em up.
The Ukraine-based indie studio previously introduced Sealbreakers as a top-down 3D brawler built around a simple but striking rule: no weapons, ever. Instead of collecting swords, guns, or magical equipment, players build a fighting style through punches, launchers, grabs, parries, and finishers that evolve across each run. More importantly, Fire Sparrow Studio has confirmed that the first playtest is scheduled for later this summer.
A New Look At Evolving Hand-To-Hand Combat
Sealbreakers places players in the role of a knight from the Faceless Order, a disgraced brotherhood sworn to fight without weapons. Sent into a collapsing reality, the player must defeat four immortal tyrants and break the Chaos Seals holding the world together.
Each run begins with a basic fighting stance, before players gradually unlock new attacks and techniques that change how they handle crowds, elite enemies, and boss encounters.
The new trailer puts that evolving moveset back at the centre of the game. Sealbreakers is not chasing loot-heavy progression, and its appeal comes from changing how players fight moment to moment, turning every run into a fresh martial arts build rather than another inventory management exercise.
Combat Is Built Around Momentum And Mastery
The most interesting part of Sealbreakers remains its commitment to physical combat. Players chain strikes into launchers, launchers into finishers, and finishers into crowd-clearing attacks that keep the pace moving.
That should give Sealbreakers a different feel from many action roguelites. The absence of traditional weapons forces greater emphasis on rhythm, spacing, positioning, and enemy control. Every punch, grab, slam, and parry needs to carry weight because there is nothing else for the player to hide behind.
The environments also support that aggression. Fire Sparrow Studio describes battles across fractured locations ranging from an ancient mountain monastery to a megacorp devouring a city block by block. That blend of old-world discipline and collapsing modern chaos gives the game a stronger visual identity than a standard arena brawler.
Four Guardians Stand Between The Player And Redemption
Sealbreakers’ core structure is built around four fallen Guardians, each tied to a Chaos Seal. These former defenders have become immortal tyrants, turning them into the major obstacles standing between the player and redemption.
Between runs, players will unlock new starting stances and permanent upgrades, allowing them to hit harder, move faster, and last longer. It is a familiar roguelite structure, but the evolving moveset system could help Sealbreakers feel more personal if each run genuinely changes how players approach combat.
Summer Playtest Could Be A Crucial Step

The upcoming playtest may be the next major moment for the game. For a combat-led roguelite, footage can only go so far. Players will need to feel whether its hand-to-hand systems are responsive, deep, and varied enough to support repeated runs.
For now, this upcoming title remains one of the more focused indie action projects to watch. Sealbreakers does not yet have a confirmed release date and is currently in development for both PC and consoles.
