While Call of Duty began with World War II entries, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare became the moment that transformed the series into a modern blockbuster phenomenon. Its cinematic missions, military thriller tone, and memorable characters helped define what many players now associate with the franchise.
For a film adaptation, Modern Warfare gives Paramount a more recognisable foundation than a completely original military setting.
