As one of the key titles for the PlayStation ecosystem in 2025, HIdeo Kojima and Kojima Productions‘ Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is certainly one to look forward to. With a complex narrative and a different take on action, the sequel will likely astound and confuse alike, and it will all begin on June 26.
The news comes via the on-stage appearance of Kojima at his 2025 South by Southwest presentation, alongside more details about the game. Naturally, we also got a 10-minute extended trailer, full of visually stunning imagery and new characters.
One of the most noteworthy introductions was of the character Neil, played by Luca Marinelli. His dramatic bandana-tying moment at the end of the trailer strongly evokes the image of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series, and we can assume that is intentional.
Beyond the already cryptic teases of the main storyline that stars Norman Reedus’ Sam Bridges, there were also snippets of gameplay of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach to marvel at. There are still packages and cargo to be delivered, but now everything is expanding beyond the United Cities of America (UCA).
The world has changed drastically due to the effects of Chiralium, presenting both new challenges and breathtaking cinematic landscapes. Despite its atmospheric storytelling, the game remains an action title, as demonstrated by a sequence showing Sam engaged in a firefight.

Stranding Harmony Concert Series
In addition to the game’s latest showcase, a special concert tour is also in the works to celebrate the music of Death Stranding. This tour, featuring a full orchestra performing music from the series, will commence November 8, beginning with a performance at the Sydney Opera House in Australia, followed by dates around the world.
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is officially set to launch on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
